A few months ago a reader suggested I check out http://www.zennioptical.com/.
On this Web site you can order single vision, bifocals, or progessive lens eyeware at discount prices. You will need the information from a recent eye exam to input the lens prescription.
Although you will not receive the individualized customer service that your local optician offers, for as little as $8 plus $4.95 S&H you can purchase a set of glasses. Bifocals start at $25 and progressive lenses at $29.95. Additional options are available for tinting and polycarbonate lenses.
Recently I ordered a dozen miscellaneous pairs from this site, and overall was well-pleased. I would advise making sure you note the size of the lenses. I hadn’t paid close attention to a few, which were smaller than I had expected. For the cost-conscious, it sounds like a good option, especially for a back-up pair, or perhaps prescription sunglasses for summertime use.
Has anyone else had experience with Zenni Optical? I would appreciate your feedback on this company or any other offering a similar service. It’s hard to go too far wrong for under $20.
